Dance of the Skeleton

My buddy Neal and I decided that we were going to come up with a topic once or twice a month and each come up with a sketch to compare and critique. This first one was entitled, "Dance of the Skeleton." I don't know why I pulled that out of the air but it was fun. I'll have you know Neal that I did this after trick or treating with my kids. I remembered at the last second and forced myself to do it. I found a picture of Fred Astaire doing a cool pose and copied it as a skeleton. I'm sure it isn't anatomically correct but it was fun to kind of make up stuff to fill in the gaps. I need to find myself the perfect sketching pencil because this #2 school pencil I'm using isn't allowing a lot of contrast and the lead is hard. Skeleton's really don't have much expression but believe me, he's smiling ear to ear...

Here are some quick sketches I did of some cowboys I found in a scout magazine. I need to get myself some different reference.

Yep...that's what I thought when I saw it...Fred Astaire!!! That is the best!!
Next time don't leave it so late, in fact, are you working on this months yet?
I love the cowboys...very good! The guy on the right reminds me of that actor in "City Slickers"!

Thanks for the comments Momma! That cowboy does look very similar to the guy in City Slickers. I found that one in a Scout magazine article which doesn't look much like the cowboy because I caracatured him up a little. We'll have to pull that movie out again.

I love the dancing skeleton love chunks! You are amazing!! Why do you have this blog private again? (as long as there is no family info) some friends were wanting to check it out!

I guess I'm a little timid to show my stuff since I haven't had much practice yet. Hopefully this site will be a good reference of where I started. Thanks sweetie!
